Maintenance Engineer at Metsä Tissue in Mariestad
Do you want to work in a high-tech and dynamic industrial environment where operational reliability, sustainability, and technical development are at the center? We are now looking for a Maintenance Engineer who wants to help develop our maintenance work and contribute to stable and efficient production.
As a Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for developing, optimizing, and quality assuring the mechanical maintenance in the facility. You will work closely with production, maintenance personnel, and planners to ensure high availability and long-term operational reliability. The role combines technical analysis, improvement work, and operational support in an environment where no day is the same.
The position is a permanent employment and you will report to the Maintenance Manager, Mariestad.
Your main responsibilities
- Drive and develop preventive and condition-based maintenance
- Follow up and quality assure maintenance plans and secure spare parts holding
- Perform root cause analyses (RCA) and initiate improvement actions
- Support operations in complex mechanical issues
- Participate in planning and execution of major maintenance stops
- Responsible for technical documentation and updating of maintenance systems
- Participate in projects and technical investigations
- Ensure that working methods and equipment comply with current safety requirements
- You will communicate internally and externally in an international environment, which requires that you have good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written.
Who are you?

We believe that you have:
- Engineering education in mechanics or equivalent experience or other relevant education
- Experience in maintenance work, preferably within the process or paper industry
- Good understanding of mechanical systems and industrial processes
- Experience with maintenance systems (e.g., SAP PM, Maximo, or similar)
- Ability to work structured, independently, and in teams
